SHEET PILING

Steel sheet piles are used in many types of temporary works and permanent structures. The sections are designed to provide the maximum strength and durability at the lowest possible weight consistent with good driving qualities. The design of the section interlocks facilitates pitching and driving and results in a continuous wall with a series of closely fitting joints.
A comprehensive range of sections in both Z and U forms with a wide range of sizes and weights is obtainable in various different grades of steel which enables the most economic choice to be made to suit the nature and requirements of any given contract.

SHEET PILING PROFILES

The advantages of U-piles are multiple:

  • wide range of sections forming several series with various geometrical characteristics, enabling the choice of technically and economically optimized sections for each specific project

  • combination of great wave depth and high flange thickness leading to excellent static properties

  • symmetrical form of single elements resulting in great aptitude for re-use

  • possibility of assembling and fixing piles into pairs at the mill providing better installation quality and performance.

Among the essential characteristics of Z-piles are the continuous form of the locks and the specific location of the interlock symmetrically on both sides of the neutral axis. These two attributes have a positive influence on the section modulus. The AZ series combines a section with extraordinary characteristics with the quality-proven Larssen interlock. Z-piles present the following advantages:

  • extremely competitive section modulus/mass relation

  • increased inertia and thus reduced deflection allowing the choice of high yield strength steel grades for the most economical solution

  • large width resulting in high installation performance.

COMMON USAGE

Our wide selection of sheet piles in Z and U shape, varying in size and weight, with different steel types, ensures that the most economical choice is made within the requirements and nature of any contract.

Ports and harbors

Steel sheet piles have proven to be the best material for swift and economical construction of piers in ports and harbors. Steel sheet piles can withstand high vertical loads and bending moments.

Bridge piers

Steel sheet piles are the most cost-effective solution when piers are used as bridge support or when construction rates are critical. Steel sheet piles can replace both the foundation and the pier of the bridges and can be installed in a one single operation requiring less time and less construction space.

RETAINING WALLS FOR ROADWORKS

The main requirement during road works is the speed of work, especially if equipment has been leased.

Underground parking

Sheet Piling is used most effectively for underground parking construction. As the main walls are less thick this creates more space and the efficiency of the construction is increased.

Temporary use

Steel sheet piles can be used and reused several times for temporary applications which can be highly efficient. In addition, if the piles are reused economically, significant savings can be made in the overall project planning.
